Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

CivicBrief is operated by Dobrinski Digital LLC, a New Hampshire limited liability company ("we," "us," or "our"). Our service is accessible at civbrief.com. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at mike@dobrinskidigital.com.

2. What Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you create an account or use our service:

  • Account information: First name, last name, email address, city, and state — collected at signup via Clerk.
  • Subscription information: Your selected plan tier (Resident or Nosey Neighbor) and town preference, stored in your account metadata.
  • Payment information: Billing details are collected and processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number or payment details on our servers.
  • Notification preferences: Towns you select to receive email notifications for.
  • Usage data: Standard web analytics such as pages visited, browser type, and referring URL, collected automatically when you use the service.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Process your subscription payment via Stripe
  • Send you email notifications about new meeting reports for towns you follow, via Resend
  • Provide access to reports appropriate to your subscription tier
  • Respond to your questions or support requests
  • Improve the service over time

4. How We Store Your Information

Your account data is stored securely through Clerk, our authentication provider. Meeting report content is stored in Notion. Payment and billing information is stored by Stripe. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

5. Email Communications

If you opt in to email notifications, we will send you emails when new meeting reports are published for towns you follow. These emails are sent via Resend. You can update your notification preferences at any time from your Profile page at profile.civbrief.com. You may also unsubscribe using the link included in every email.

6. AI-Generated Content

Meeting reports on CivicBrief are generated using artificial intelligence tools including OpenAI. The source material consists of publicly available government meeting recordings and transcripts. AI-generated summaries may contain errors or omissions. We are not responsible for decisions made based on report content.

7. Third-Party Services

CivicBrief uses the following third-party services to operate:

  • Clerk — authentication and account management (clerk.com)
  • Stripe — payment processing (stripe.com)
  • Resend — transactional email delivery (resend.com)
  • Notion — report content storage (notion.so)
  • Vercel — website hosting (vercel.com)
  • OpenAI — AI report generation (openai.com)

Each of these providers has their own privacy policy governing their use of data.

8. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in and to understand how you use the service. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may affect your ability to log in or use certain features.

9. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription and delete your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or billing purposes.

10. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. To make a request, contact us at mike@dobrinskidigital.com. You may also update your name, city, state, and notification preferences directly from your Profile page.

11. Children's Privacy

CivicBrief is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of CivicBrief after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
